Default SC sent back to vortech

First, I have to say thank you to jamie and vortech who is taking care of the supercharger head unit at no charge (my cost was shipping it to them and 3 hours of my life taking the head off the car).

On my way home from work there was a squeeling noise under the hood. It sounded like a combination of fan belt and berring. I pulled over to take a peek. I saw the SC belt had walked forward about 1/4 inch. Closed the hood and drove home.

When I got home I moved the belt back into place. However I noticed a lot of play in and out in the pully. And I also noticed a small amount of oil on a metal part of the frame of suspension under the SC.

After taking the SC off, there was a large amount of oil that appeared to be pushing through the back of the SC where the rod that connects to the pull is.

Anyway, I sent it off to vortech on friday and I hope to see it again soon

After a few weeks of driving mine, I noticed my belt was a little looser. I put it off another week and then decided to make an appointment. I also noticed at this time that the belt had not only loosened but had also moved off the pulley about 1/8 of an inch. The next night, it snapped or fell off. I hope nothing else is wrong and that I dont have the same problems you do. I knew the belt would get loose, but I never knew it would come off after a month of use. I just thought it would be loose and I wouldn't be making full boost. So now my car is essentially stock with a $4k intake. good luck with everything

I'm a bit surprised and curious about why this sort of thing is happening to you guys. Besides the possibility of a defective product, I see one of a couple of things happening. The first being that the belt was way too tight and the bearing got fried. The other being that the jam locknut was never cinched down and you were relying entirely on the adjuster to hold the tension. Was it one of these? After my initial 400 mile tightening, the belt has been at the perfect tension and working well for over a year and a half.
