Default sc to turbo conversion

I have a vortech supercharged s2k. I had it tuned with the emanage. All was fine untill about 3 months ago when a berring spun on the sc.

Sent the unit back to vortech, and they were amazing great service etc. But ever since I had the unit off, I was thinking maybe I should upgrade the pully, I thought about a pop off valve to keep the boost at 8psi... The other day the blet slipped. I tightened it and readjusted it and checked allt he bolts. It happened again to day and seems to only happen when I get on the car... which sucks. I think I have to change the belt (but I only have 12 k with the sc on it). To change the belt means taking off the entire front half of the supercharger unit! So I was thinking if I'm going to take apart the entire supercharger mounting unit ever year or so... how about turbo putting on a turbo.

So that's where I am now. I am thinking of buying a turbo for the car, but keeping the all the other stuff from the supercharger. (I know I'll have to retune).

Question 1.
Is there any reason why this would not work? A turbo head to a vortech water inercooler?

Question 2.
I have got in contact with a few people selling kits, but they are not willing to part out the kits, and I do not need all of the extra stuff. Does anyone know of a place that I can get just what I need for the car?

Question 3.
I'm trying to figure out exactly what I need to make this conversion. Tell me if I am missing anything.
Turbo Manifold
Head unit (suggestions on type and size welcomed)
wastegate
downpipe
intake pipe
I would have to custom make an outlet pipe for the compressed air to go to the intercooler.

Is there anything else?

Thanks in advance

If my 'Head unit' you mean 'Turbo' then the list looks pretty complete.

I'm sure you can use the aftercooler with a turbo but then you can't sell a complete Vortech kit to help pay for the turbo.

Check my sig for wastegate

Just remember, the intake air temps right after the turbo are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy higher than off the S/C.

Question 1 answer: Yes, you can use the aftercooler w/ your turbo setup. I would personally sell the whole Vortech kit w/ aftercooler to make more money out of the sale. There are alot of intercoolers out there that can be had for a great price and most importantly, they work great. I've used the precision 600+HP intercooler and it worked great. They offer smaller sizes and they use some of the best cores(Garrett).

Question 2 answer: I know Revhard(revhard.com) sells a turbo kit for the S2000 and they have always sold their parts(IC pipes, downpipes) seperately. You can give them a call and ask. However if I were you, I would go w/ custom IC piping and a custom downpipe. Custom piping is always the best because you get something that fits perfect and you choose the size you want for your specific setup. Since you're piecing your kit together, piping from a kit might not fit properly anyway. Mount the exh. manifold, turbo and intercooler on the car to see what you need to get made. 2.5" IC piping all around will work great and I would go with at least a 3" downpipe. Just about any shop can make you your pipes.

Question 3 answer: Exhaust manifold, turbo, wastegate, blowoff valve, downpipe, IC piping, Intercooler, oil feed line, oil return line, various fittings, vacuum lines, 255 fuel pump, FMU, and possibly an oil filter relocator. These are all the parts you will need, assuming you are selling you whole vortech kit w/ aftercooler. The only parts you will be able to use off of your Vortech kit is the aftercooler, fuel pump, FMU, and blowoff valve. I think it's better to sell the kit as a whole and make more money, otherwise people will lowball you since it's not a complete kit.
As far as which turbo to go with, will depend on your horsepower goals. On my old turbo car, I used the Precision GT35/61E. That turbo made more than enough power and spooled up fairly quick. If you are only looking to make around 300WHP, you can get something much smaller that will spool up even quicker.
One thing you should look into is a good EMS and a bigger set of injectors. FMU setups are garbage anyway and this will get rid of that. Most importantly the car will run strong and safe if it's tuned right. Good luck.

You shouldn't need a new belt after 12k miles. My guess is you are not tightening the 3/4 lock nut on the tensioner pulley enough after retensioning the belt.

The trouble of tightening the belt is far easier than swapping a turbo for the SC.

took me 3 hours to change the belt and I'm terrible at working on cars. It would take me about an hour and a half if i were to do it again. Seems like a much more simple alternative.
