Sea Foam Additive
Over the weekend, some of us guys got together and had a field day. was fun. one of our things we did was sea foam our motors.
If anyone here is uncertain about this product, it can be purchased at a local auto parts shop and can be completed in 20 min in which 15 min of that time is wait time. The product is supposed to clear methane and carbon build up on internals to improve throttle response and increase airflow back to new allowing the car to save some lost horsepower, not neccesarly gain.
Problem i am having is it has been a week after the install or "Flush" and my car is stumbling at idle. sometimes dropping down to 100RPM before recovering. it makes sitting at a light feel like im in a POS car again. I spoke to some guys who have assured me that it will pass or maybe a second pass with it might correct it. I believe them but just incase someone else knows something worth sharing, i'd be helpful.
for refference, i detatched my battery to reset my ECU. this orperation causes a temp check engine light. i was thinking ECU has not adjusted or maybe now the valves are not sealing properly with the build up removed. all help is appreciated

Try this:
Disconnect your battery. Go hit the horn to your car to release any stored charge. (Some people say you have to disconnect your battery and wait a while but that's just silly) Disconnect the map sensor and make sure the connection is firm (taking care not to break the plastic clip) when you reconnect it. Reconnect the battery.
Start the car and let it sit for 5 minutes. It will learn it's idle. Then go drive around. Let us know how it goes!

Awesome product and really works. Did it at my last maintenance via vacuum line and made the car punchy again. There is a chance of hydrolock if you suck up too much at one time so you're supposed to do it little by little without making the engine die. Any loose hoses? If not undo and put back map sensor or reset ecu again(pulling fuse). Not sure why you have engine light from undoing battery.

this was really hot with the celica gts' they love that sea foam stuff, after clearing the engine with it, causes your car to really puff out a lot of smoke, after that it's supposed to run really good. I am still a bit skeptical.

Rather than disconnect the battery you could just reset the ecu. Do this by pulling the backup fuse under the drivers foot well and leave it out for about 5 seconds. This does the same thing as disconnecting the battery without having to type in the radio code.

Didnt know about the fuse. I'ma try that today before i head out. I will also try to disconnect the map sensor although i am a little worried of breaking it or making the connection loose. we'll see how that goes.

I used the line connecting to the power brake booster.
So i tried the ECU reset today and it has been fine so far. Then again, it was raining and windy here, unlike yesterday that was hot and sunny so we'll see on a hotter day. Also, i am going to add a ziptie around the MAF sensor until i can get the new one.
