Thanks, dlq. my dealer sent me the fax this morning, and it was no biggie to post it.

Seems like part I to me -- not really the end -- dlq. It's certainly good preventive news for the S2000 owner community. The spark plugs have definitely been a problem for a bunch of folks. And I think the s2ki board has saved more than a few engine blocks from disintegrated spark plugs as a result.

Part II, hopefully, will be some sort of closure on #4 cylinder scoring (tap-tap-tap) problem. From what we've seen, there's a TSB in Europe which is highly invasive which may or may not even address that problem. Many owners seem to be wondering what Honda can do for us on that score. I hate to think of owners needing cylinder block replacements!!! This is a Honda, dammit (pardon my French)! Anyway, 'nuff said on that score; I expounded elsewhere what a nasty problem this will be for AHM.

Break out the torque wrenches!!!

I don't think Honda should recall all cars in the US since most people won't experience the problem.

But, over 20 cars have been reported on the board and that IS statistically significant.

Given that their is a design flaw, Honda should do a good faith TSB type fix on all cars that do develop the problem, rather than a full recall. So, just fix them as they come in, whether or not the warrantee is expired.

There are definitely 3 versions of the engine: F20C, F20C1 and F20C2. This has been discussed long ago and my memory is not what it was, but I believe the pistons have different part numbers. F20C2 is for countries where 98RON is readily available and F20C1 for the others.

Search is back!!!

OK, thanks Luis. I'm not sure if it's 2 or 3 different engine versions, but I did find a determination of the C1/C2 designations. It's not an explanation of how they differ, tho. Could be pistons...

I've pasted one of the things I found below, apparently it's based on region and maybe you can tell from your VIN (I haven't tried). Thanks for bringing it to my attn. Looks like there's some overlap in the KQ region (whatever that is).

FYI. Seems that JDM S2000 has a similar recall, released yesterday.

And note how in the upper left corner it actually states "RECALL" and not just a measly "TSB" !!!

Pining for the days of simpler engines, dlq?

Wait 'till the day when we all have to start dealing with fuel cell technology and the electronics associated with that. Oh god, I am feeling very obsolete!

The bright side of modern tech, dlq... Ain't no way a car like the S2000 could've been built when your MG was.
