diff is good, no play, and after I drained all the fluid no metal was in there AT ALL!!!!

billman is dropping the axle off at my house today and I am going to attempt to fix it after work! fingers crossed.

only thing I am worried about is getting the axle nut off.

 

If i see the car i'll blast the nut off I'll have my gun with me

 

when you get it all back together check both rear wheel bearings for any excessive play

should I try and take the axle nut off with the wheel and weight on the car or do it jacked up?

 

Do it with the wheel on and weight of the car on the knuckle. It'll move easily otherwise even with the ebrake engaged.
