Default Shift alarm quit

My redline shift alarm stopped working a couple weeks ago. When I put it in test mode it beeps normally and increases fequency with RPM. This confirms power, rev signal, and beeper connection. I've tried several different dip settings for RPM trigger and it does nothing. Is it just dead, or am I missing something? I really miss this thing, I've hit the rev limiter several times since it stopped working!

Double check with the instructions to make sure that all the dips are in the correct position and that all of them are firmly UP or DOWN as needed.

It's probably the wire to the beeper came loose. Check your connections.

No luck, I confirmed dip settings and position. Toggled them all several times. The beeper is connected OK because in test mode it beeps as it should. It even increases beep frequency as revs climb while in test mode. But it does nothing in normal mode, regardless of the RPM settings. Must be something in the circuit that's dead. Prob be easier to replace than troubleshoot. Maybe the heat killed it this summer!

Its a shift beeper. It basicly beeps at certain intervals as you approach a designated redline. I have one, you can listen to it on thursday if you'd like.

Maybe the tach signal wire has come loose. With this loose, wouldn't your test sequence still work? Just the actual engine running up won't be detected.

If you have a question for Bob, wouldn't the best way to get an answer be to contact him directly? http://modifry.com/contact/index.htm

I'll double check, but in test mode the frequency of the beeps increases as revs climb off idle. This would indicate it is getting a tach signal. I didn't rev too far (3-4k maybe), so it could be dropping the tach signal at some high rev point - I'll test that tonight. Even if that is the case, the fault would be somewhere in the beeper circuit, which is probably not a repairable thing, at least not by me. It does seem odd that power, tach, and beeper connection are all good, and the test mode works OK, but the normal mode doesn't. If all else fails, I'll take off the heat wrap and look for any obvious defect on the board.

Good point, thanks. I was hoping he might be browsing through here too.
