Shift light installation
Don't know about the ecu signal but I have installed a shift light on an s2000 before by hooking the input up to the RPM chck wire in the engine bay.
Its a loose blue wire on the left hand side of the engine bay(looking towards the car), near the brake cylinder thingie.
Its pretty easy to find as it is a terminated wire that goes nowhere and isn't connected to anything.

I good place to find the wiring diagram for the ECU is on the AEMpower.com forum for the AEM EMS system. In there, there is a forum for wiring diagrams, you need the wiring diagram for the 1012, and you'll be all set.
