Default Shifter stuck in "Engaged Reverse position"

Did a couple of searches on the forum..

Anyone have a DIY for your Shifter getting stuck in the Engaged reverse position.

I already stripped the shifter down to the cage and there was minor shavings and i Put a little more oil on it..

But my shifter just wont come up.. I have to take channel locks to the book and hit it with a hammer to get it out of the reverse position

Any help would be much appreciated..

See this thread https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=772277 for detailed instructions and pics on how to fully remove the shifter from the transmission. You can then replace the large bushing with a new one.
