Default Shifting into Reverse!

Whenever i shift into reverse i get either

1) a clunk sound before going fully into reverse

2) it doesn't allow me to get into gear.... meaning it will limit the shifter from fully(engaging) going into reverse gear, no matter how hard i push it.

I've tried sometimes putting it into first or other gears before reverse, but that doesn't work.

my clutch is fully engaged when i shift.

I just want it to go in smoothly. Could it be the tranny fluid?

I got my 06 used with 13K miles.

Second gear is notchy at first but after a bit of driving, it shifts better. However, the reverse is giving me shit ass problems all the time. It's embarrassing when I'm in the parking lot getting ready to back in and my reverse gear doesn't' engage until like 1 min later while everyone is either honking or waiting impatiently.

Any suggestions or experiences? Thanks!

try fluid. Usually the trannys in ap2's are much smoother than a typical ap1 trans. It shouldn't be bad though. Have a local s2k guru look at it man

Go check if there's fluid on clutch reservoir or probably it's time to bleed your clutch...maybe has some air in it. Just my 2 cents.

When you press down while at neutral between 5th and 6th, can you feel the shifter drop before your shift into reverse? Does it only go into reverse when you feel this? Is this problem very recent?

Try putting it in 3rd and gently releasing the clutch just a tiny bit to bump the clutch. You shouldn't even move if you do it right. It should go into reverse then. Problem: all this means is that your clutch isn't releasing fully and needs to be either serviced or replaced. I have the same problem right now. Once you bump it everything lets go and the shaft stops spinning allowing you to get it into gear. The occasional clunk you hear is everything lining up by chance and the shaft slamming to a halt as the clutch releases.

ok, so i replaced the tranny fluid and the diff. fluid with redline. Second gear is noticeably smoother. However, reverse is still having little clunk sounds going in or not letting me fully engage into reverse.

How can this be? it's ridiculous how it let's me just engage half way and block me from going fully into reverse. Could there be something wrong with my clutch??

I don't feel my clutch slipping, vibrating or acting wierd.

Does someone have any other suggestions? Thanks

the transmission drops before entering into reverse. I've tried many s2k's before so i know exactly how the reverse works but just don't know why mine is like this lol.

It happens from time to time.... let's say out of 10 times,

2-3 times i get it in smoothly

4-5 times i get it but with a clunk sound

2-3 times i get it in half way and get stuck.

So it' quite annoying.

Have you had this problem too?

mines a little sticky aswell. I push mine down then push right and back. But before mines goes in i stops as if theres a barrier and then i have to hold it and gently push it back and wait about 3 seconds then it'll eventually pop in with a small clunk. Try what i do? hold it gently to the spot where its suppose to go in a wait a few secd and see if it goes in?

...or just totally ignore my explanation of what's wrong.
