reverse clunk is good.. it's like clutch buzz for your gears. I think every car with a reverse gear will have problems engaging every once in a while so just relax a little. Everything I have driven from 1955 Vs to the S2000 hung up in reverse at different points in time.

No..... i didn't ignore your post. Your post gave me a lot of info. I was just wondering if there were any other people having the same issues.

However, thanks for giving me all the info. So how exactly do i service a clutch? The car has only had 14K miles on it. And there's really nothing wrong with the clutch slipping as mentioned before.

My RSX had 100L miles and reverse gear was still smoooth as butter.

Thanks sgtb!!

14k? Thought it was older. Pump the clutch twice and try again. Should engage like butter. My problem can't be remedied with a double clutch. Sorry for the hostility.

the transmission drops before entering into reverse. I've tried many s2k's before so i know exactly how the reverse works but just don't know why mine is like this lol.

It happens from time to time.... let's say out of 10 times,

2-3 times i get it in smoothly

4-5 times i get it but with a clunk sound

2-3 times i get it in half way and get stuck.

So it' quite annoying.

Have you had this problem too?
Sometimes, if I don't feel the shifter move down when I press, I just know I will not get into reverse. I always get into reverse when I feel it drop. I can't say I have a problem because it seldom happens.

WOW! I was just thinking about this today! My baby has been doing this for as long as i can remember. I thought it was my fault because this is my first manuel tranny. Yeah, it feels like it there is a barrier going into reverse, and sometimes at stops i shift to neutral and when i shift to a gear, after the car hasn't been been moving for a while, there is a clunk sound.

I would also like to know how i could get rid off this, and one way how i get in reverse quick is when i feel that "barrier" is take it out and press on the clutch and shift to reverse again.

well, like i said before, i've switched to redline tranny oil and second gear is much smoother. Reverse however, i've spoken to a couple of mechanics and they've all said the same thing. Try shifting into first before reverse and re-clutch and try shifting again. Apparently this is a common issue, and there's really no way around it unless you re built the tranny.
