It is a bare block or a fullly built short block?

A bare block, less the oil pan will fit in a 24"x24"x24" double walled box. Using foam insolation from Home Depot/Lowes cut it to line the box, and fill the remaining void. This will weigh about 80 lbs, just about the limit for UPS/FedEx (100)

I did a write up on shipping a block in the FI forum I think.

Just ship it freight. Don't leave it up to fed ex or ups they don't handle large packages well.

It shouldn't cost yo umore then 170 bucks or so. I shipped my block from Atlanta GA to Anaheim CA for 170 dollars with crank and pistons and flywheel installed.

Go through the yellow pages and find a freight shipper. I used southeastern freight lines. They can quote you over the phone.
no need to "prep" the block. just make sure yo uhave a very strong box, I went to u-haul, and plenty of 1" thick foam insulation for all the sides.

I have used http://www.feightquote.com to ship large items. They will quote all major freight companies and you can pick the one you want based on terms and price.

I think the weight limit is 150 through..

Fedex is much cheaper than UPS. I've shipped b16a2 Blocks from a honda civic, complet bottom end it was just over $100.

Just make sure that no matter how hard that thing gets tossed around it cant move and it will make it there no problem.
