Default shock / strut mount

i am finally getting around to throwing some new koni yellows on the car. have been running eibach pro kit springs for a while with the stock shocks and they are totally gone now. car is a 2000my and only has 76k on the odo.

i called a few places to inquire about install costs and some mentioned that i should get new shock/strut mounts from honda to use for the install. they say they always do shock installs and have people complain about squeaks from the old mounts not working well with the new suspension. i guess they are just a rubber type piece but they cost about $20 a piece from honda so that could be an extra $80 or $100 bucks.

i searched around and only found one thread of a guy mentioning his mounts may be squeaking.. so i'm guessing it is probably not something i really HAVE to get.

any feedback on this?

I have installed eibach pro-kit with yellow koni shocks and the original mount on my 01 and have no problem. So you can try to see if works for you, I've put 30,000 miles on it no problem

you can re-use them but its easy to replace while they are out. if you have the money do it if not, skip it, it's all up to you.

yeah it is normal to replace them while everything is torn apart, particularly after that age. If they wear out after you do the job then it is more money spent having to remove and replace the new shocks. They will eventually fail, so might as well do it while everything is opened up.
