$128 shipping? Is some guy hand carrying this? Flat rate postal shipping can't be over $50. Still insane for a book.

Shipping varies depending on shipping outfit. Postal Service is one thing and can be quite high. Given that these are printed (books) material you may get a break on the cost with the tradeoff of having it delivered after the Covid vaccine is distributed.
FedEx may be cheaper than the Post Office especially if you can make the package as small as possible. I hate to recommend UPS, they destroy everything they get their hands on.
Don't forget currier services either. They can be relatively reasonable.
