Skipping shift (going up) is a no no.

I have been driving like a Gma
shifting very low 1-2-3 and rpm each gear is less than 2300
and then put in 5th..just rolling through gears easy and slow....
flat land or down hill

23-24 mph in city

the reason you shouldn't do that, is because it can get you into the habit of skip shifting, and you may do it at a time where you do rev higher, and you may not even realize you've done it.

With such a nice gearbox, who would skip gears?

Thanks to S2ki, when I learned to drive stick I made sure I never skipped gears up or down. Now I can't even do it intentionally without feeling like I broke something.

You need to know what's a synchro is.

a misshifted "upshift" will bog the engine, it will not do any harm unless you do that everyday
a missshifted downshift will(read:6 to 3, 5 to 2, 6 to 1) will kill the motor, blow the tranny
so i cant go from 6-3 if im in a lower rpm??????

You do realize you own a high performance sports car, right?

Unless you're breaking in a brand new engine there is no reason to baby it. Use all the gears. Read this thread and the one it points to. Skip shifting on upshifts is bad. (or can be).

is anyone even reading the thread? this is the 2nd person who has stated mis-shift when that has NOTHING to do with the thread.

WRONG. read the link above.
Actually I was referring to the person above my post who said the downshifting and causing a mechanical overrev will damage the tranny and bend the rods. It won't do crap to the tranny and it certainly won't bend any rods. It will however crash your pistons into the valves and make a big mess.

Also I think (see think) that upsift skipping gears isn't quite a bad as everyone makes it out to be. I'll agree you SHOULDN'T do it, but on my first s2k I did it quite often before I knew better, and the guy who now owns my old s2k has put over 50k miles on it and tranny is still humming along quite happily. It now has around 80k miles.

Then again I never skipped a gear while winding it out at 9k rpms either.
