Slave Cylinder Failure

I thought I was the only one who did this....

Had some free time today.
I took the 03 slave cylinder out and put in my modified 04 slave cylinder. To rule out a couple things:
1) The part youre supposed to dremel off doesnt do anything as far as getting the cylinder to align correctly. If you dont dremel enough off, you wont get the line to properly seal.
2) I had put about 3000 miles on the 03 slave cylinder. Surely if it wasnt aligned correctly, I would have had similar problems as S2000GT. I was even the one under the car closing and opening the bleed valve to make sure there were no leaks.
I'm not ruling out that I'm a piss poor shadetree mechanic (hehehe) but all these points that have been brought up dont seem to apply in my case. As I took out the 03 cylinder, it looked to be considerably shorter than the 04. Maybe the 03 slave wasnt meant to mate up to the 04 tranny?
I'll double and triple check to ENSURE that the end of the slave cylinder is seated properly this time. I still need to get this thing bled.
And No, I definitely dont regret doing this mod at all. This is the first incident I've known of this happening though.

Mine failed tonight. I am not 100% why, but the most likely is due to the ball tip not being seated correctly on the cup in the clutch lever arm. During the bleeding of the AP1 slave on my 2005 AP2 car, once noticible pressure was applied and generated in the slave cylinder the ball tip went past the cup and came off the lever arm. Fluid started leaking out the end of the AP1 slave. The AP2 slave is back on my car and functioning properly.
I Dremeled out the alignment groove for the hose and I also cut about 2mm off the tip of the L shaped alignment arm that comes off the side of the fitting on the hose. This allowed it to seat very well on the 03 slave. I had my roommate help me with the install/bleed and we are not new to this. In the past 10 years, we have installed, replaced and/or bleed brakes and clutch cylnders 20 times minimum. But, this is the first AP2 to AP1 clutch slave conversion we have done. I will say, the spring on the AP1 slave I got from Hard Top Guy is Significantly stronger than the AP2 slave on my car. Maybe due to 24K miles. When inserting and aligning it into the 2 slave retaining screws, there was a great deal more pressure that was required to compress the piston in the slave cylinder. The amount of effort required to hold the AP1 slave in postion to thread the 2 slave bolts was a lot higher than needed for the AP2 slave.
Notes from my point of view:
Use a modified AP2 slave with the delay valve removed. When teh AP1 cylinder is installed the hose lays at a different angle than it does on teh AP2 cylinder. When pressure is applied to the clutch pedal and the slave cylinder has pressure, the hose moves and the fluid pressure increases. This does not happen on the AP2 setup. I nticed this because I was laying under the car as my roommmate pumped the pedal during the bleeding process. You can get an AP2 slave from Majestic Honda in RI for $56. Also buy replacement banjo bolts and washers. The washers should be replaced during the install and the banjo bolt is a must have in case you over tighten the bolt and it stretches or snaps.
Anyway, the original AP2 slave is on my car and I have another being shipped to me from Majestic Honda. I plan to modify it and take the valve out, and just swap the parts.
