Default Slave cylinder question

My clutch has been acting up for some time now. It will feel super easy and then feel like its hitting a wall halfway down at other times. This happens several times within as little as a 10 minute drive.

Figured id bleed it the 'billman' way (remove the slave, point it up, and bleed) upon completion it does feel alot better, still maybe not perfect, but better.

When i removed the slave i looked at the ball on the piston (which i had polished before) and it has a big slice out of the middle. Any idea what could do this?

My old slave was like that. I ordered a new slave and the rubber thing that goes around it (my s never came with one). Greased the ball and fork with super high temp urea grease

That wasn't the reason why I changed it though, it was because it was leaking.
