Suzuka blue,

I cant fathom why you would put advice in posts about subjects you know very little about. I asked my questions already knowing the answers.

In your post you state that there are sleeves in a stock block that can be pressed out. This is pure fiction. Likewise your statement that they can be recoated with FRM and pressed back in place is also fiction.

As bpapsi said, the frm material is a layer cast into the block. It cannot be pressed out.

If you post inaccurate and misleading information on forums like this it only confuses people who are actually asking for help.
Once again, a person that doesn't know how to read my posts'. You practically put a few words into my mouth. Please quote where I said you have to machine press the sleeve OUT? I've already read on here about people saying that sleeves are machine pressed in, do I know if thats true? Idk, why should I listen to you if I read that from another member? I never said anything about taking them out. Also if you actually read my reply to bpapsi, I said I read in a few places here on the forum that it is possible to do the FRM layer, which I suppose isn't true either. I also stated that I have never seen it done or anything, I just said that based off what I read. So why should I not believe the other posts, but believe yours?

So whats with all the insult? If you're going to insult me about what I read, you better do a search and go into every thread and correct all the mistakes that people made, that way I don't get bad information.

If you know so much about the s2000 engine block, i'm surprised you don't know how to read better. Move on, jeeze.

So the advice you give is based in stuff you have read on the forum? No actual first hand experience?

Enough said.

PS, have a look one of my builds, you can see pictures of the FRM layer in the block.

guys chill out this isn't a pissing contest. i'm still waiting to here back from the machine shop it it does look like the boring/honing is an option because the scoring on the cylinder walls are not to serious. as for s2k friendly pistons would it be safe to run them with stock rods with arp rod bolts? if i decide to do fi i am looking to make between 350 to 450 hp
In the name of giving proper info, no you can't really re-use the stock rods, well you could but...read on here...
http://www.scienceofspeed.com/products/eng...%20BULLETIN.pdf

The alternative to that would be to have your stock rods bushed to 22mm and use a custom FRM friendly piston.

Make sure the shop that is going to bore & hone your block are equipped & trained on FRM (matrix composite) lining.

Cheers

If you are planning on getting the pistons that are compatible with the FRM sleeves, then I would get a new OEM block or find a good condition low mileage block. If you are wanting to put some iron sleeves in, I would just do it to your current block if its only the cylinders that are messed up.
So if the engine block’s cylinder heads are to thin, it it better to buy sleeves for it or buy another block for it ?

I don't recall a successful sleeving of either of the S2000 engines. Be nice if you could buy a new block or engine but the only source is a used working engine, probably from a wreck, and holders of these probably know their value.
