Default Is slight gear whine normal?

I have had a light throttle gear whine for about as long as I have owned the car and I was just wondering if this was normal for these cars, or if it is something I should have checked out before the warranty expires. I have about 8500 miles on the car now and changed the diff. fluid at about 5000 miles. Thanks in advance for any insight.

I think it's pretty normal. I had it in my '01 and now in my '04. It's especially noticeable at really low speeds with the top down (i.e. navigating through my parking garage).

I blew my differencial twice now, I always had a quiet whine(it would get louder over time) when driving around 32-40 mph right before they blew, I drove another s2k(s2conda's) about a week ago and I didnt notice any whine.
