anyone have 2nd gear pop out on it own? mine never did it till recently and it has happened a few times....on the decel...any thoughts on this? I've always had the 2nd gr grind when the car is very warm

 

My 04 with 8K miles is in the shop today getting the same problem fixed. There is a TSB out on it - TSB 05-009. Honda dealer will want to duplicate the problem which may be difficult if it only happens once in a while. Tell them you feel that is a safety issue - that's what I did. The parts to fix are difficault to get so make sure they have them in stock so they don't have your car for 2 weeks. I will take 1 1/2 days to fix.

 

Damn, that's exactly the same problem I'm facing. Shit I thought that maybe I'm accidentally hitting the shifter with my hand.

It happens when I'm in second gear going around a corner or downshifting.... I have a brand new 05 with 1300 miles on it. But the problem started happening in the very first few hunder miles.

I'm glad someone else is having the same problem. Having an Auto Acura TL for 2 years, I thought that I may have lost my driving skills !!!

I guess I'll have to take it in....

 

'05 w/ about 1350 miles on it so far and it hasn't happened yet *knocks on wood*. but should it happen, would this somehow fix the 1->2 grind? under regular driving, i get a very mild grind sometimes, but if i vtec first, it always grinds HARD into 2nd =\. i searched around and there doesn't seem to be a good honda supported solution to this?

 

TSB 05-009 and 4 days at the dealership took care of the problem in our myo5. It popped out of 2nd on hard deceleration from the original test drive on. It has been perfect since the tranny rebuild.

 

Just got mine back from the dealer a week ago, '05 with 8k miles and second gear popped everyonce in a blue moon and second gear felt sort of crunchy. Take is in, it'll take about three days or so. After that my second gear doesn't is really smooth. Don't worry if it doesn't pop out after every take off seeing the service bulletin the dealer won't try to duplicate the case unless they're asses.
