Default Slips out of 1st gear at a stop sometimes

The last week my S has slipped out of 1st when starting from a dead stop 3 times. It has never done that in the last year and 25,000 miles I have daily driven it. Maybe its me just not getting it into gear well enough but I don't think so. I had the 30K service done about 4K miles ago and the honda dealer flushed the transmission and changed the fluid. It also has been very hot here lately over 100 degrees F every day but I don't know if that would have any effect. It has happened three times which isn't a big deal but I just wondered if I should get the fluid changed again?

i have a 2004, with 63,000 miles. every once and a while when cold and only with cold it does not fully go into 1st from a stop, it pops out and scares me big time...like what is this? what it is means that yoiu simply put it into 2nd before 1st and it will go in when cold. never had the problem again. maybe this has happened, again when cold, 5 times. they all do that.

Sounds like it didn't get all the way in.

Do a lot of city driving? 1st's syncro might be wearing.

My 2005 pops out of first when cold. I usually always let my car warm up a few bars before I drive it so it rarely happens but it does and will if I drive it cold. There is a TSB regarding gears popping out...

This used to happened to me a lot in my '04. I switched from Honda MTF to Amsoil MTF and it has not popped out once since.

My '04 pops out a lot on the OEM fluid. But it is vastly improved with Redline MTL, Redline MT-90 or GM Synchromesh friction-modified (Amsoil is on my list for the next trans change). The GM Synchromesh is best (on my car) from a popout standpoint, but I like the feel of MT-90 best. I may someday try a blend.

This was my experience too. Seems like the higher viscosity helps in this regard.
