I went for a smog check today and the tech says he cant pass it because the airbox is missing. my car is stock n the only thing i did was remove the airbox. i dont think it matters if its there or not. it doesnt effect emissions. i know it passed just like that 2yrs ago at a different smog. i guess i'll just have to take it to that same smog then.

 

Well ,your in California. Do you still have the stock filter installed? It shouldn't make any difference but it might in your state. Return everything to stock before you go back for a re-check.

 

I passed smog last week in cali...I went legit (put the car mostly back to stock) swapped the hfc, ems, injectors, and wideband for oem

Still had cams, berk header, aem v2, throttle body installed, exhaust. Didn't even bring the stickers for aem and berk has no carb#

Had it the stock ecu for barely a day, ecu readiness signaled by long CEL light during key turn 1 phase.

Passed with flying colors at a test only station even tho I only need to go to regular place. Thought I was going to fail. Then I put everything back to normal after.

u need the stock airbox, go grab on in the classified from a car part thread or junk yard/ebay ;3

 

I will get one n bring it with me incase the tech ask for it. Then i'll just swap it there.

 

bought the airbox n put in my trunk. headed to the same shop 2yrs ago. i asked the tech n even popped my hood for the tech to see. he say it was fine as long as the tube is still stock. So therefore the other tech was just a BIG FAT JERK!!! But its a good think to have it cause you never know when you might want to use it again. Anyways, the shop gave a discount for been a member in the s2000 club or s2ki club.
