Default smoking at track

Running at the track which has one turn that is known to send oil up the PCV to the catchcan. I didn't have any oil in my catchcan which is weird os I checked and the oilk was low. I didn't have any oil but someone gave me a quart of 20w/50 to top it up.

I went back out and towards the end of the session the car was smoking on the turn the oil gets into the PCV - at the end of the session the catchcan was nearly full.

What is weird then I left the car in grid idling for about 5-10mins I was checking tire pressures and talking to someone and it started smoking out the exhaust quite bad.

The temps where normal so I just shut it down for a while. Got home at low revs ok.. just started her up and left her idling and she started to smoke a bit again

I dumped the oil out it definitely needs changing I'm wondering what could be wrong?

Just bad oil or could I have messed something up? could oil from the PCV still be burning off?
