Default Snapped ground cable for battery

The cable snapped where it connects to the bolt on the firewall behind the battery, and the metal threads for the cable seem like they were welded to the bolted piece, so I need to buy a new ground cable.

My question is... what is the best way to switch this out? I HATE DIYs though I'm not going to go to a shop to get this seemingly easy fix done. I just don't know how to get to the nut on the other side of the bolt if I do try and put in a new cable.

Sorry if this sounds confusing/not clear, I'm just trying to get on the right foot here.
Thanks.

I don't get it. Is one of the terminals snapped? Or the Cable itself? Replace the snapped terminal if that's the case.

the CABLE has snapped, I would have to take out the bolt, if I am not mistaken, in order to put in a new ground cable. And if that is the case, would there not be a nut on the other side of the firewall where the bolt is holding the terminal in place? I don't know how I would get to that nut.

I do hope it's less complicated than I am making it out to be.

I could post a picture if that clears things up?

the 'nut' that you're referring to is welded to the sheetmetal. I would suggest that you spray the bolt with some penetrating oil, wait 10-15 minutes, then unbolt the old cable. Clean everything down, remove any rust or corrosion on the bolt and washers, coat the end of the ground cable with vaseline, and re install.

Ah! the nut is welded, that calms my fears then.

Thank you sir, you are a gentleman and a scholar. I'll post results in a few hours.
