So, can I get away with just a new rear diff case?

Sorry to see this

Thanks for posting the picture
Its really nice to see the oil return passage, from the small pinion bearing back to the casing.

Well considering he learned how to drive a stick in this exact car in the walmart parking lot after he bought it...... Nothing but love.

Squeezer (aka snappy) and I go way back. I must say though this is one of his greater accomplishments. lol He did end up snagging 2 used diffs from a local scrapper today so he can get on the road again quickly and have one to send out to get beefed up. Luckily his DD T100 saved the day.

BTW squeezer... we need to get together on that line soon. Wanna come help out on the widebody v6 turbo MR2 this weekend?

As for not rev matching a 6-2 downshift (why you'd even make this shift at all I'm not sure but without rev matching... WTF), or not rev matching your downshifts in general...
I don't think I've ever downshifted without rev matching...

6-2 huh? That's about what I'd expect it to look like! There is a lot of potential metal chunkery between 6 and 2. Rev-match is an understatement.
