So is it time to replace my MAP sensor?
Hi Guys,
I need some feedback on whether or not I need to drop more money at the local dealership for a new MAP sensor or IAC valve.
I feel that I have tried almost everything when it comes to correcting my idle issue
1) Cleaned the IAC valve out completely
2) Did the MAP whack
3) Replaced my spark plugs (I had to do this anyways)
What else am I missing? Is there something I should still try?
These symptoms are still driving me CRAZY
1) Idle still falls under 800 rpm when in traffic.
2) Idle is unpredictable, sometimes it is 800, 900, and/or 1000 rpm at idle.
3) When A/C is on the car is even more susceptible to the idle feeling that it is "dieing"/ or going under regular idle speeds.
Am I going crazy here or is this just regular Honda S2000 behavior? Could this also be caused by vacuum lines not being installed correctly?

I just whacked it by cleaning the connector male and female inputs. I'll try swabbing out the little hole, but I doubt it will help. I have a 2001, it might be time to get a new MAP sensor just by age of the car.

Did you just wack the MAP? You should unbolt the throttle body and clean the little air channel between the TB and intake manifold that supplies air to the MAP. Takes just a few min.
I think it will help a lot. It's the ONLY thing that fixed my issue.. wacking the map, cleaning the connector, cleaning the IAC did nothing. You can't just swab out the hole though, the channel is extremely small. You need to unbolt the throttle body to access it. you can just reuse the gasket.
edit: mine was a 2000 and this happened to me last summer.. so, the timing is right
