Default Soft-Top Alignment

Apologies if this is in the wrong section, mods feel free to move if necessary.

I've had terrible wind noise on my car for some time now and since I've now got her garaged, I'd figure I'd really dive in to solving the issue. The top doesn't sit flush with the seals, so at 70mph you can't hold a conversation at all. More often than not, it's quieter to go top down. I'm trying to get a local top guy to look at it, but he's extremely busy (which is understandable) so perhaps you guys have suggestions.

For you guys that have replaced the top, is there a bolt somewhere that I can adjust where the top falls flush with the seals?

I've installed the hard top strikers.

And lastly, here's a picture with all my "ghetto mods" to make it sit as flush as possible. The procedure - I have hardtop strikers, vinyl tubing on the hooks, I pull t forward and pull down at the last second, lock it, and then press back so it squeezes down farther. In this position, if you pull down on the handle, you cannot move it at all. I've put all my weight into it, and the thing wont go down farther.

As you can see, it's still far from flush.

Why does it look like you have an extra piece of material on the edge of the soft top?

Sounds like you need Billman modified latches

I tried the washer trick, but it didn't help much. When I installed new strikers a year ago, didn't put them back on.

That extra piece of material is my ghetto rigging to decrease wind noise. It does not stop the top from folding down, though.

You modified the latches somehow?
