Not sure what all this means, but here's what I found out.

While drivnig to work today, I left the probe in the same location as before and the mat was on the car as well. What I found out was that within 1-2 minutes of highway speeds(ie 70mph) the air temp right at the inlet was only about 2-4 degrees F above ambient(which was around 87-89*F). And even sitting in traffic for a while, the temp never did get higher than about 118-120*F and within the first minute or so, the temp came back down and stablized at the 90-92*F range.

I think this mat has an amazing ability to insulate against heat BUT it also has an amazing ability to shed heat from the non-heated side once air gets moving. With the addition of my sheet metal "snorkel" I think I can get the pre-airbox area cooled down even faster once on the move.

Just a little more result... after I stopped to get gas, the temp with the mat got up to about 150 after sitting around for nearly 10 minutes. As soon I as started to move, above about 45mph, the temp came down, and within 2 minutes, the temp was back down to 101-102*F with the ambient temp at about 98.1*F.

the mat works.
