Default Spoon Throttle Body

I want to buy that Spoon throttle body, but I have a couple of questions. What is involved with installation? Has anyone installed that TB and had any major issues? Do I have to do anything to the factory computer? Is it worth the 600 bucks? Any input would be appreciated.

Matt

Do a search, I know there is a company that will bore the stock TB (which I think Spoon does as well) but they only charge about $160 plus a core charge which you will get back when you send in your stock TB. You should look that up, it will save a lot of money and give the same results.

In your current stage of modifications, it is really not worth it. The only difference you will feel is in throttle response. Is $600 for better throttle response and close to no noticeable power increase worth it? If you were turbocharged or supercharged, it would be worth about 5 hp on the top end and would make a small difference.

That $600 is better spent on a lighter flywheel, as throttle response and acceleration will improve. But you won't really be able to do that in your driveway though...

Kingmotorsports.com will bore your stock TB for $150. You can pick up a lightweight flywheel with the money you will save

Bigger throttle body doesn't give you better throttle response. Conversly, it gives you worse throttle responce. It may help out on WOT, but only by very little. The smaller the throttle opening, the faster the gases (air) flows through it.

Pinch the garden hose......

Actually, the Speed(and Spoon) TB leaves the throttle plate diameter alone. They only bore out the opening to 70mm and taper it down. This should theoretically speed up the incoming air(Bernoulli's principle?), similar to that of the garden hose analogy.

What is involved with installation? It's a bolt on. The hardest part is cleaning off the old gasket. I used that citrus goo gone stuff.

So, my question here would be:

Would these 40 members do it all over again?
