A lot of people with the proflow TB claimed they got a rough idle.

when i did it, i was saving up for a supercharger, so i figured i'd just do it to get it over with. instead, i got a hardtop. if i could go through it all over again, i wouldn't have wasted my time or money...and everytime i read the board, about NA people that have this throttle body, i become even more insecure about it's effects (rough idle, loss of power, etc.)

It doesn't affect anything imo. No probelms, or power for me. I still have mine in.

If i would have done it again, I would have kept my $. Same goes for a lot of the parts people buy. Strut Tower Bars, and most other "braces" are a waste of $ too.

I havent heard of anyone having any problems with these. By rough idle, are you guys saying the idle drops and raises, or is so low the engine is shaking? Didn't you guys notice any power gains by doing the bore out, if spoon claims at 6whp, that is a decent HP/Money ratio, without adding a turbo or supercharger.

Here's a past thread on the subject:

BTW, there are about 6 local guys running these w/o any idle issues.

I have the Spoon, would I do it again? Probably not, but I think with my mods it should do something. What? Who the hell knows. I don't have a rough idle at all.

Absolutly. [snicker] The gains on a Forced Induction applications are pretty hard to ignore, especially considering the $150 pricetag. Idle problems? No, this is the first I've even heard a peep to that effect. Sounds like uninformed rumor. Remember that most folks bolt this modification on with other parts.

If you are building an NA car I wouldn't consider it unless I was perfoming other more serious modifications. For example: aggressive cams. Remember this is just one piece of a working system. Its unlikely you'll see gains on an otherwise stock car. Bolting on I/H/E barely provides any gains, so how would a bored throttle body make that much of a difference. The real gains can be found with a modified throttle body if you need the additional flow. So if you have a honest 'project' underway, contact Jim @ http://www.proflowdesign.com since he's a good guy and has a fair price.

to Jim @ Pro Flow. He's a good guy. Just saying that for the NA guys (sans the All Motor Guys) it's not gonna make ANY gains.

If you had hi comp, aggro cams and bored out, the TB would prolly add 6hp. In stock form, the engine isn't able to take advantage from a larger TB. When I raced shifter karts, we would swithc back and forth between a 36mm carb and a 38mm one. The 36mm had tons more throttle response.
