cleaning the TB won't really get you better performance. you might as well pee on a forest fire.

I'd try to reset ecu once more and let it idle for 5-10min before going anywhere
Also while it's idling make sure all the accesories (radio, etc) and HVAC are off. Wait until the engine fan comes on and then goes back off to begin timing your 5 min. Do not count any of the time the engine fan runs. Your car may continue to try and stall or actually stall for a while after this, do not try and keep it from stalling by giving it gas. This may confuse the ECU while it is learning. BTW the procedure Xman03 is describing is called the "Engine Idle Learn Procedure" and should be performed anytime the ECU is reset.

After disc battery and left out for 10 mins
You don't need to disconnect the battery to reset the ecu. There is a no. 25 backup fuse located in the cabin fusebox( I think it's 7amp). Simply remove this fuse for 60 seconds to reset the ecu, after 60 seconds re-insert the fuse. If you use this method you won't have to reprogram your radio presets.

if I had to guess, it sounds (or sounded) like the idle control valve is having problems of some sort.

That exact same thing happened to be when my buddy and I were messing around with my battery connections when trying to install a ground wire system. I took the damn thing out, but that wasnt the only reason......
