this morning (must have been 32-) i tried to start my car and it wouldn't ignite! I tried it twice before running away scared and both times it turned over and made the starting shriek but didn't ignite. is this still a symptom of the tensioner? I'm ordering the part tonight, but I don't have a helms manual. are the instructions given above all I need to know?
That pretty much sums it up... I can see if I can take pics for you.. .but it would be easier if someone posted up the small section from the Helm's manual itself.

I know it was posted before, I'll see if I can find it for you.

i found this thread, https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...c=320897&st=25, which gives a pictured DIY tutorial.

Oh, btw, so the fact that my car didn't start...does that mean anything? Is it safe to try again or am I damaging the chain? Please tell me I haven't damaged something else.

I wouldn't recommend starting it again if you feel this is the problem. You would run the risk of breaking more internals if you keep going at it.

That link is great

So sorry if this is a repeat question, but do we know exactly what's happening and what is grinding on what to cause this noise when you have a faulty TCT?

Thanks!

I have this noise too. It is only when it's cold out. I am 90% sure it is coming from the starter.

If you go find a car with a normal ignition system and crank the key when its already running you'll hear a VERY similar noise.

The TCT is loosing hyd pressure, or a comination of hyd pressure and spring pressure.

The loud distinct clicking is resonating from the aluminum/plastic chain guide from the loss of tension.

That is a bad idea, and it definitely DOES NOT sound anything like that.
