I can't tell if it is coming or going. Are we to assume it is going in?

Coming out.

The shop towel is plugging the oil return line for the turbo..

There's so much to tell, where to begin!

This is Mike Simon's shop. I don't know how many of you know about Mike Simon.. <insert wyanes world "doodle doodle" back-in-time-transisition > About.. maybe 5-6 months ago there was a thread on ClubSI telling the story of a ~730 hp CRX that was dynoed at Force Fed Industries in Ohio. I regularly visit the "Got Boost" forum to see what the B-series guys are doing. Anyways, I called up Force Fed Industries and pleaded for any info I could get. I left my cell phone, asking them to give it to Mike so that I could talk to him.

3 weeks later he made an appearance on the board under the name "msimon". He was selling his motors, a bunch of people put the "raise the BS flag" icon on, but I recognized the name and immediatly sent him a message. 2 hours later I was talking to him on the phone.

Through out the whole ordeal I have been speaking with him about my project....

<forward in time>

Anyways, so I send my car to Speedcraft for tuning. There is another thread which has a huge part of the story in it, read this: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...?threadid=77145

I left off with there was oil on my pistons. Speedcraft concluded that it was the valve seals, so we spent a week or so collecting parts, valve spring compressor, and then labor. When it was done, they cleaned out the cylinders, and tried to seat the piston rings by starting the car and running at 5000 rpm for a minute. It started smoking... same problem.

At this point the only thing left is the piston rings. There was some question as to if the piston rings has been installed upside down.

So I call Mike up, and I send my car to him. He has rebuilt the motor ~30-40 times in his CRX drag days.

He gets the car, and has started to work on it yesterday. He says that the reason why oil was getting on the pistons is because the oil from the turbo is backing up in the oil drain line, and oil is backing up. When that happens, apparently oil goes everywhere, and even can get back in to the pistons! His evidence for this was that the oil level is higher than the oil drain line. Speedcraft says that's impossible.

Mike is going to tear the engine down, and change the block with a sleeved and o-ringed block. With that being done, there is nothing in the engine that is not built, and my motor should be on the same level as the 730hp motor has had in his CRX... except my head is ported alot better than his is He was really excited to see Alaniz's work on the head, here is a picture of the intake port.

Anyways, for street driving it should have lots of power, for drag racing (not that I would hehe), it should have rediculous power.

The motor is being torn down today, we expect it to be back in the car and running with the new block by next Friday, and tuning shortly after.

Chris

Let's all sing the song...O rings and boost, O rings and boost. It's about time someone did it right. Good move Chris.
