Is 2SA1162 suitable? It is listed as a "similar part" to ECG2409. Please see http://www.digikey.co.uk/product-sea...yWords=2sa1162

Modifry is awesome, you might want to re-think the patch that you have in case it is the source of the short, Modifry has some amazing DCI's, I love mine.

Funny you should say that, I am already in conversation with the seller of my patch lead, as I'm sure the installation was good. And Loftust, who also had a failure listed on here, was using the same type. If I can repair my old board as well as having the replacement, that gives me good options. I would without doubt Buy from modifry, but I am in the UK and not sure if that would be feasible?

If go to the website he has some wiring instructions for his DCI, follow the mute wire and see where it should be connected, then compare it to your setup. There is a good chance your mute wire is connected to an improper wire through the patch.

I don't want to brag but my "patch" has speed variable volume, which is an awesome feature, lol, . Good luck with your project .

Ok so I checked Modifry's installation instructions, his patch leads are different from what I have. My Autoleads patch lead has a relay in line for the mute. And this must be correct as Loftust makes reference to it in his post(having replaced it thinking it might be the problem). All my patch lead wires are still labeled and on second inspection are connected correctly. I was so confident on my installation, I soldered all connections that were, for example, missing a female connector(then thoroughly insulating with insulation tape) before first install. I have fitted loads of stereo's over the years and have never had a problem.

What I'm thinking now is, perhaps the relay is drawing too much current through the mute circuit, and that this is what has caused the damage.......don't know, just an idea.

I don't see a need for a relay, but I don't know if it can cause a problem, it does seem like the one odd item in the installation. Shoot Modifry a pm on that I am sure he can shed some light on the issue. It would suck to fix the board only to have it blow again.
