When you did the clutch job, did you actually grease that T.O. bearing spindle liberally? Not doing so is a mistake that some mechanics will overlook.
Also, spraying WD-40 in there is a bad thing. You are "rinsing" off whatever grease is in there and eventually, you'll wash it all off. The trouble with spraying stuff in there without being able to direct where it's going is that you can cover surfaces that should not be covered at all.

 

I have the exact same symtoms, and this started soon after i changed clutch from the 054 to 055 thing.

Since I ain't no expert nor mechanic - when you guys say spray whatever wherever, is the wherever a place one can reach with the tranny in place and the car not up on a ramp? i.e. is this a (dumb) user serviceable part for the quick fix?

 

You have to get under the car to do this, and remove the slave cyl.

Do not spray anything in there. Use a small paint brush with some wheel bearing grease to lube the contact points.

Wow... realizing now that it's not just my own problem... had a complete clutch change 2 months ago... clutch real loose and simple after the change... now starting to tightening up with AGAIN... is this a design problem? Wondering if anyone knows a permanent fix? Would changing any racing clutch solve the problem?

I had mine looked at just recently, but it is starting to go again. I think the shop did not do a proper lube job by opening up the box and all, just the equivalent of a "spray job". Within one week the clutch is making a squeaky noise when depressed again, and I know the stiffness will be back again in a few days.

I really hope the proper lube job is the cure to this. Otherwise, I wonder if an aftermarket clutch will be the permanent fix or is this a fundamental design thing that will occur with any clutch? When it is sticky, smooth shifting at low speeds and balancing are near impossible.
