Default stock exhaust resonater removal

is there a do it yourself write up on this? or does it need to be done professionally?

i love working on my car and doing it myself so i know how to fix it if anything goes wrong. so this mod would be perfect for me.

thanks
jay

2 step DIY:

1. cut the resonator off.
2. weld a section of exhaust piping in it's place.

fin.

Step 3. Never take your car to be inspected or attempt to drive it on the streets of NoVA ever again or anywhere where there is any kind of exhaust emissions testing...

The resonator has nothing to do with emissions testing. This is a fairly easy mod if you know how to weld, otherwise an exhaust shop would be able to do it fairly quickly for you. Seems people pay between $20 and $40 to have it done.

you're right....one of these days I'm going to have to learn to read...(as someone who doesn't have a resonator anywhere in his exhaust system). just have to watch for cops with sound level (dB) meters...
wont be that loud either.

I have the Comptech catback and it's not loud at low speeds and light accelerator...but when the foot comes down and the revs go up....

There was a guy who has done this, I remember reading it around this time last year.

Afterward, he said not to do it! The sound became very raspy and thin, not much louder either.

I was gonna do it, but then I turn around!

I just saw this covered in here last week.

Do a search for "resonatorectomy" LOL

Seriously, you'll get writeups, after reading I already purchased the piping (Pep Boys, $7 bucks for an 18" section of stainless 2.5" exhaust piping), removed my b-pipe and am awaiting on a friend to TIG it up

isn't the stock pipe 2.25" not 2.5?
