Default Stock motor turbo

So i have recently just boosted my s2000 and have put 900miles on it since the build. Car currently makes 402whp on e85 and a all stock motor. I have done alot of reading about how strong these motors are in stock form. I am wanting to do spring and retainers and a 3mm head gasket and turn up the boost. How reliable and how long do these motors last in stock for making 500-550 whp?

The head gasket will be the weak point, just don't contaminate the oil pan with coolant every time u have to change it.

I heard that the diff is another weak point you should look out for if you're upping the power.

Yes i am aware of the differental, as mine is about to go out already with zero lauches on it and only 54k miles. I plan on upgrading it this winter as well.

Avoid thicker headgaskets. Not a reliable option.

Depends how thick, if you change the CR less than .5 as in 11:1 to 10.5:1 no biggie, but if you're trying to drop compression down to 10:1 or 9.5:1 it's no good, you increase the quench area too much and you will do more damage than anything, and better off getting lower compression pistons. Whatever you do, don't go 7,000 miles per oil change. FI you shouldn't go more than 3,000, you're going to have a lot more blowby.

Question is why do you need the engine to be making crazy power on a stock setup?

To each his own but know that some engines last 600 hp for a long time and others blow at 300 hp in a couple of months (it all depends on care and how hard it is driven, and if its with regularity). You have heard correct in that the F series engines in the s2000's are well built and can take a beating (but not everything lasts forever at crazy power levels.

Your profile says your car is a 2000 (i.e. Ap1).

If you wanted to add insurance to your engine with it being forcefully inducted i would do the following asap:

1) ap2 oil jet bolt - upgrade
2) ap2 retainer upgrade
3) oil pan baffle if you are planning on tracking the car
4) keep up on your fluid changes and making sure everything is tightened down
5) you have the proper heat shielding to make sure you are not melting vital engine wiring etc.

To be honest 400hp daily (is a safe limit and still be fun power wise). These are just suggestions

I keep the car well maintenaned, as i drive the car hard but it is not daily driven ,im just looking for a little more power but want to keep it on the safer side. Thanks for the input i will look into those other things, i planed on upgrading the retainers soon anyways.
