Default Strut brace fitted

I've just installed a strut brace on the S and all has gone really well until someone on the UK boards said that the 4 bolts that hold it in place need to be tightened to 49 Nm with a torque wrench.

Does anyone know if this information is accurate or is it just tighten up "until tight"?

This may be a dumb question but would really appreciate some feedback.

I think that person must be telling you porkies

Although I fitted my J's strut brace and used the settings stated in the workshop manual.

The torque settings are correct

It's always good practice to use a torque wrench so that you don't over tighten the bolts which could stretch them and in time cause failure.

I torqued my Comptech to 36 ft-lbs. I'm not sure what that is in n/m, but yes, it is important to torque to spec for the reasons Amuse Boy listed above.

Both flange nuts should be torqued to 49 N-m (5.0 kgf-m, 36 lbf-ft)
- 00 to 05 Honda Service manual.
