Default stupid mistake

ok so i am running late and i stopped for gas quick. i grabbed the hose right next to the 93 sign and put about 6 gallons in. i pulled out engine sputtering and everything... went home about 5 miles. i checked back later and found out the diesel hose was next to the 93 octane sign. i am having it towed to the dealership in the morning. did i do any long lasting damage or am i just looking at having the gas tank and lines drained along with new filters, pump, and spark plugs. any input? yea i know i'm the 2nd person ever to do this but i'm scared i messed up the S...... help!!!

wow!!! sorie to hear that man! i hope nothing happens to the motor...if im not mistaken, diesel does not compress and ur best bet is to get rid of that gas and fill up a new gas. Considering ur motor didnt get damage just replace the diesel with regular gas and ur good to go...it happens before to someoe that i know

Diesel won't hurt your engine. But you will have to have the fuel system thoroughly cleaned.

Well, in thinking about it a bit more, it may affect your cat.

it may have damaged you cat, and could have damaged the engine.

Diesel ignites on compression, but Im not sure at what compression it will ignite. If it was auto-igniting then it would be similar to having detonation. that can cause damage to the engine. Its likely however that it didnt do anyhting too serious. Just screwed up your cat.

I almost did that in my del Sol but the hose wouldn't fit in the gas tank thats how it saved me. Im surprised that the hose of the diesel fuel spout isn't bigger.

Awe man...that sucks! Getting rid of the fuel really isn't hard if you have a place to store it. There's a plug on the fuel tank to drain that and then you'd drain everything out of the lines..
After that fill with some 100 octane (to keep detonation at bay when mixing with the diesel) and purposely flood your motor.
Wait 24 hrs and she'll turn over. It's a tough motor...it'll be alright, man!

diesel ignites at a much higher compression than gasoline engines. there should not have been any detonation.
