Default Sudden Loss of Power 3rd gear Vtec

Last night on a freeway on ramp, I was WOT in 3rd gear just in vtec, say between 6500 - 7000 RPM. I breifly noticed a hesitation and loss of power for a moment, almost as if VSA activated. Obviously this was not the case as there was no loss of traction or erratic vehicle movements. I drove the car home and parked it. I checked the oil level this morning and it was low, on the last X on the low end. Do any of you know if the loss of power is related to this? Its been 2,700 miles since I last changed the oil. I'm using Mobil 1 10-30 synthetic and the car is a 2007 AP2 with 9,000 miles on it. This amount of oil consumption seems high to me for an 07 AP2, anyone have any other thoughts...I'm a bit concerned.

Thanks

I had the same thing happen! Same gear too! But mine is an 05, with 27,000km on the clock. Mobil 1 as well, but topped right up. I backed out immediately feeling the car fall on its face. Since then been good. The only thing that I can find on here is that it may be a MAP sensor issue. If it doesnt do it frequent.... dont worry about it would be my addage.

GET THIS..... mine did it getting on the highway too! Same scinerio! WOW.... Maybe you briefly lost oil pressure because it was low, and any corner involved would enhance this.

wow thats some pretty bad oil consumption there! I can go 5k plus mile and my oil will be clear and none burned at all, still on the top mark. This is with Hondas oil, not sure if they use dino or synth, but i was never a fan of synth in hondas, always caused problems for me.

I had the exact same thing happen to me... getting on the Highway, accelerating in 3rd gear vtec (I have an AP1 though) I cant remember, it happened a couple of months ago. Either the Check engine light flashed a couple of times or the Maintenance Required light flashed a few times when it happened (I can't remember)

I freaked and cruised the rest of the way home (praying that nothing was wrong)... hasn't happened since.

I read somewhere that low oil won't let vtec engage so that could be the reason.

If it trully was an issue, and not VSA or anything else you might not have noticed, I would scan the OBDII codes and check for a "pending code" meaning a scenario the ecu detected but not enough to trigger the main CEL. my .02

I read somewhere that it's important to check oil level every time you fuel up.
Where did I read that....
Hmmmm....

It could have been the OWNERS MANUAL

ha thats crazy man! The car feels to be great this morning and It hasnt happened again, I will just have to monitor it and see if it happens again. Thanks for all your feedback.

The Car was warmed up, I had been driving for about 30 minutes.

I check my oil levels usual once a week, I just have been very unatenntive to this lately.
