Default TCT-Oil pressure- or Engine problem.

I've tried searching for the answer for the exact problem I'm having through search but I can't seem to find someone who has/had the exact problem.

Ok so about a week ago I was driving to get something to eat with my wife, on my birthday no less, and I took the car up to about 8k 2 through 4th nothing too big and not bouncing off redline. I didn't hear a noise of a pop or anything. About two miles later I was taking turns holding it about 5k and once I went into power after them there was none.. no power! VTEC acted crazy like poping and studdering while the car was bucking sometimes even no noise at all just like hitting a brick wall when I put the pedal down. I only tried to do this about 3 times then pulled over to see what was going on.

I heard a ticking in front of my engine but off and on really fast. I later found out on this site it was the common noise of a bad TCT so I took it out twice and resurfaced the worm gear and streched the sping...the noise went away for a little bit after each of those break downs but returned in about 5 mins of driving....or when hot. It still didn't explain why my loss of power in the VTEC and only vtec range off of VTEC the power is fine WOT.

I checked all wires (or what I could see) unpluged my MAP it's a 3.5 bar GMC check it. nothing same thing. Oil is fine always at the full line...

I'm sure I'm missing a few things I did.. but my mods are in the sig and I'm going crazy trying to figure this one out....

I'm thinking now it's the oil pump which would also explain the TCT noise if I have no pressure.... I have no leaks that I can see and my plugs look fine.

I'm basically writing this on here to see if anyone can think of something it might be or if someone else had the same problem....I'll update this thread once I figure some things out. I really don't want to take it in to get screwed in money but I might just do that next week.

Thanks ....Rob

Since you are FI with extensive engine mods +EMS, this would be more complicated to figure out for the normal/NA S2K owner. I'd say ask the FI guys in the FI forum.

True... I just know there are a few "engine" people in this area that might be able to figure something out, that might not be in the FI area.

TCT is not causing your problem.

What did you resurface your worm gear with? if you dont sandblast it you are wasting your time.

I didn't sandblast it...I sanded it down with high grit sandpaper. I just ordered a whole new TCT last night but I fear you are right it's not the problem.

O and to further what I wrote in the first part. There is no extra oil burning and no wierd smoke out of the exhaust.
