Default Test Pipe CEL Code

Does anyone know which specific code is thrown when a test pipe is installed?

I'm asking because I have a P0138 (O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2) and I'm thinking it may be related to that. What does bank 1 sensor 2 mean?

I need to know if I need to order anything else before I go in for smog.

A test pipe should only throw a P0420, did you unplug the sensor before it was unthreaded? Pretty common to damage the sensor from excessive twisting on the wires.
There is only one bank on this car, sensor 2 means the secondary that normally sits in the cat. Bank 1 sensor 1 would be the primary.

Thanks for clarifying! I just got the car so I'll go take a look for any obvious damage tomorrow. Would replacing the secondary o2 harness (right?) fix this issue?

Let us know if you can pass California smog testing with a cat-delete. Seems unlikely to me but I'm always curious.

The harness is attached to the sensor but yes it's a good chance a new one would fix it.

You only have one bank since this is an inline engine with only two O2 sensors. So...all your O2 sensors are on bank 1.

The primary sensor (sensor 1) is upstream. That's the one in the header.

The secondary sensor (sensor 2) is the one that resides in the cat...or test pipe.

The 2nd sensor will report unusually high voltage without a cat. So that code makes *some* sense.

Its strange that it isn't throwing a P0420 also.

You may need a new sensor and a CEL fix.

So I guess my sensor is broken? Thought it was supposed to have a thicker cylindrical tube. Well, I'm getting a cat and new sensor next week. Sorry for the huge picture, didn't know how to resize it.

That would definitely result in a high voltage reading lol
