Thoughts on buying used compressor
hey guys,
just wanted to get insight on what you guys thought about buying a used compressor. My compressor is shot and I didn't really want to buy brand new just because I don't drive the car as much anymore. Is it worth it to replace with a used compressor? Thoughts?
Also does anyone know of a good site to buy a new one?

I've had a used one for 3 years now, still blows cold. If you have the proper and right type of oil in the system, the only thing that can fail is the shaft seal or the magnetic clutch. The rest of A/C failures are caused by bad driers or expansion valves, or leaks that allow moisture in the system and let out the compressor oil. Moisture in the system is essentially death for an A/C system, the moisture mixes with the oil and becomes a corrosive acid, causes the evaporator to corrode, lines start leaking, the bolts that go to the condenser start corroding. That little can in front of the condenser is the only thing keeping moisture out of the system.
