Thoughts on the K&N oil filter?
I did a search and didn't find anything. Anyone here have any thoughts on the performance of the K&N oil filter, either for the S or for other vehicles?

they have a good reputation able to flow well and still filter sufficiently, regarded as a high quality filter. It's hard to get any specs on oil filters but I did see a flow test on K&N at bobistheoilguy.com a few years ago and it faired the best in their flow test if I recall.

Dom, I think he was referring to K&N Oil filters, so my comments were on their oil filters as opposed to their oiled air filters.
I'm not a fan of their oiled air filters, I like their oil filters though I still prefer Honda filters for my car.

Simply switching from an AC Delco (OEM) oil filter to a K&N boosted my idle oil pressure by about 10psi in my Trans Am. I was impressed with the quality, but Honda Filters cost the same and they are clearly the favorite.

Oil filter studies show that K&N filters are completely identical to Mobil 1 filters on the inside. The only difference is the nut welded to the canister to ease removal. I use Purolator PureOne filters over OEM Honda because they have all the features I want: synthetic media, silicone anti drainback valve, high quality coil spring bypass valve, metal end caps with excellent adhesion to media, and overall excellent fit and finish. I took apart a used one and it looked great. They are only $5 and are probably the most used filter by BITOG forum members. The only OEM filter I would buy are the ones made in Japan by Toyo Roki MFG Co., but they don't sell those at the dealership anymore and I'm not going to pay 3x as much as the PureOne to have them shipped online.

They have the nice touch of a hole for the a safety wire. Could stop the filter from backing out.
I ran K&N for a while, Mobil1 and now the Honda filter. No difference to me. No visible difference in oil. No lab differences either. They all work very well.
