Harry, I think the amount of track time your car sees may have something to do with it. Lots of high rpm engine vibration, coupled with being exceptionally hot lead to the convertors breaking up.
That being said, there are plenty of other Honda models that require replacement convertors before 80K. With OBDII you get a CEL to remind you. Pre-OBDII didn't have catalyst monitoring.

04 with aprox 30-35K miles with the same issue.
It's running a CTSC though.
