Default Thrust bearing / clutch release bearing..

So, have a strange sound/symptoms that are coming from my new (to me) AP1, which I'm struggling to put into words.
Someone told me it sounds like the clutch release bearing, could anyone describe what noises it would be making and at what RPM.
Thanks

try recording a video of the noise as it happens. it'll help us out a lot.

It possibly be the famous clutch buzz that you're hearing .... Can you upload a video so we can hear it ...

I'm also a new owner of an AP1, and noticed a noise that sounded unhealthy to me. I had it looked at by both a Honda dealership (tech also owned an AP1) and a reputable shop in the area who is very familiar with S2000s. Both places told me that AP1 gearboxes are just very noisy and that the noise was perfect safe and normal.

your noise could very well be something different, but know that these gearboxes are apparently notoriously noisy, but it's okay. As for clutch buzz, my understanding was that it was fixed from MY02 on. Although if you've had a clutch replacement done, it's alwys possible that it was replaced with a clutch that buzzes regardless of MY. But like other people have said, posting a video would be your best bet of having the noise diagnosed online.

That's in an AP2 and that is the Throwout bearing.

It is noisy on ide and disappears when I put the clutch in, but doesn't instantly stop it fades, like it's slowing to a stop which drives me the the clutch/throw out bearing!

I have the same problem. I am worried it is a trans shaft bearing.. Its an '04 with 76k, I replaced the clutch myself at 65k with a cm stage 2, 6 puck ceramic disc, lightweight flywheel with supplied pilot and t/o bearings. Got tired of the awful clutch buzz and replaced the friction disc back to OEM, found that the t/o bearing had some play and put the OEM 65k one back in.. Still have a slight random clutch buzz ( meaning if I slip the clutch with a little extra gas it goes away, but at idle have the slight whirling noise that fades out when clutch to the floor.. Please if anyone has any good ideas, chime in.
