Ticking noise while driving and while the car is off
As the title says. Whenever I am at a stoplight I hear a ticking noise coming from under my car while it is on and while it is off. I'm sure this might have been covered somewhere I just haven't been able to find anything about it. It sounds like a pebble hitting my exhaust or something. Also put my head near the bottom of the car and it sounded like it was coming from the catalytic converter area.

Aluminium engines make a ticking sound as they quickly change temp. It has to do with expansion of metal when heated (and return to original size when cooling)
Its a very disconcerting, loud, sharp, click type sound, that occurs every couple of seconds. The more rapid the temp change, the more dramatic, loudness and how often, these ticks occur. Run your motor hard, then shut down, its gonna happen a lot more intense than after a light cruise.
All aluminum engines do this.
