Default Timing chain replacement

Hi everyone

Can any UK owners please advise of whether they have had this done ? And where there maybe some discount ?

We are suffering a rattle low revs and my mechanic reckons its timing chain. Naturally you change both kits and its near on 900 quid without labour !

Keen to get advice

Thanks

How's your timing chain tensioner? Miles on the car now? Do you know when/if it was replaced (common maintenance item)? What does your mechanic know about the S2000?

I agree, this sounds like a timing chain tensioner issue. Kinda rare for a Honda timing chain to need replacing.

They want to charge you thousands for something you could diy in 15 min and a couple hundred, by just replacing tensioner.

That's the dealers job, get you to pay for uneeded repairs. Your job is to be informed and not get taken advantage of. The first step in that process is not to ever go to steelership for service.

Post a sound clip of the noise, 6 feet away from the front of the car, hood closed.

If it’s tensioner related, it will be obvious.
