Thanks Bill - so if the tech I use at the dealer is halfway competent, he shouldn't screw up anything while changing out the TCT, right?

Here's another noise that maybe someone is familiar with. Idling, it sounds like a taping noise, kinda like the valve tap, just "harder" and louder, it's random comes and goes, same speed - if not slower- then the regular valvetrain noise we're used too
It stays during acceleration. I can't hear it during driving though...

As long as they pull the pin last, through the maintenence hole, after the two mounting bolts are tight, you should be good

How much they gonna charge ya?

Well, if they honor the warranty, I guess they wouldn't charge me. But if they don't, I guess I'll use the Billman's services again.

Going by their $80/hour rate and assuming it takes 15 minutes to replace as was stated in this thread, probably $20? I'm going to try to get over there today and ask anyway though.

lol i wish it was that easy. $80/hour is the rate. When the "diagnose" a problem, it takes them about 10min. they'll still charge you the full started hour. Thats sunny honda in valdosta for ya

Yours will take a little longer, as you need to pull the stock airbox.

I guess you could do it without pulling the box, but the time it will take you to fight around the box you could have pulled it out already

Well, I went in to the dealer service bay today at Huntington Honda and had my tech look at the problem. Of course the noise wasn't very noticeable when you need it to be, but he trusts that I don't abuse the car and went ahead and had the service advisor order the part for me, under the extended HondaCare warranty. I asked them how much it would cost if I were out of warranty and they said they would have charged me around $200 since I'm a good customer hehe.

For you Long Islanders in Suffolk county, if you're ever in need of legitimate warranty work, use Bobby Monteagudo at Huntington Honda. He's a competent tech and a good guy.
