I'm not sure I'm 100% clear on what you're asking. If you're installing a new TCT, and it's installed properly, the pin will be facing the maintenance hole and you can easily grab it with a set of needle-nose pliers and pull it straight out.
Oh okay! I was reading the write up and it said something about making sure the pin is facing the maintenance hole. So when I order it, it will already be facing the hole, correct?

I've installed two, and both were facing the correct direction upon installation. I assume the same should be true for all *new* parts.

I have a 2001 and i heard the tensioner cards in bicycle spokes noise at startup the other day for less than a second then it went away. Never heard it again since then. What do you guys think? I've read this thread and i guess if i have to i could take it apart and get someone to sand blast it or sand it myself. But I mean, it's a 2001, and the tensioner is not new that i know of.

i get the noise only at cold start up. had the dealer check it out and they said they once had a customer that had the same sound. they did valve adj. and replaced the TCT and it only reduced the noise. their suggestion to me was to do a valve adj. first, then maybe the TCT.

it's not valves. It's so much faster than valvetrain noise. sounds like a piece of plastic, with the edge touching the chain, and hitting every link 50+ times per second.

i had a similar noise. sounded like inside the timing cover. couldn't believe it because it is an 08. turned out to be that dam sticker on the lower timing cover, right behind the crankshaft pulley. i would only hear the noise every once in a while. the sticker was starting to peel off and it would rub against the crankshaft pulley. sound like a high pitched buzzing noise. ripped off sticker and noise was gone

No one has explained how to reset the NTN1 after sandblasting.

Am I missing a DIY link somewhere?

I experienced this problem as well, Mr Ak. I use Mobil 1 Synth 10w30, but will be changing in another thousand miles or so.

This past weekend I replaced my TCT. It was very easy with my limited knowledge of engine repair.

I am also going to be calling Honda of America to complain about my old dealership in Ohio. The service department could not find anything wrong with my engine after $100 in costs (even though it is under warranty.) I even told them to check the TCT and they said no. The noise got progressively worse, so I just bought the part myself and installed in about 30 minutes.

Have about 100 miles on it of my normal driving habits, and I havent heard a single noise.

Both DIYs posted on these forums were a great help.

Has anyone done the sandblasting mod to a brand new TCT yet? Just wondering??
