OK..

Piston # 2 does not move up/down with the crank. 1 valve is obviously bent, rocker arm for that valve is broken and piston looks to have a few scratches.

Here are some pics. any ideas?

The #2 connecting rod is broken. The engine is obviously junk.

It broke the rod, the piston came up and hit the open valve, breaking the rocker arm.

what do you think would cause a broken connecting rod billman?

abuse/ high revs? lack of maintenance?

First thing would be low oil.

Second would be a serious mechanical over-rev.

How fast was he going?

anyone think it'll be a good canidate for a 2.4 liter setup??

Gotta replace rods/pistons/crank anyways.

I'd have a good look at the lower end of the cylinder walls. There's a chance the rod crashed into the bottom edge, by the oil jet.

Take a nut or something and glue it to that broken piston with construction adhesive. Then pull it out. It should pull right out with a broken rod.

brilliant... gonna go jbweld one to the top of it right now.

edit: No luck.. jbweld just popped right off, and I dont have any other glue stuff.
